The best word to describe Apu Jan’s AW17 “From Here To There” collection would most certainly be elegant. The show gave further proof of the young designer’s unique talent.

Apu Jan is known for his knitwear techniques and ability to integrate fantastic and literary elements into contemporary, wearable pieces. His designs present a fusion of East and West, of tradition and modernity. The key pieces are the coats, the knitwear and the flowing skirts and dresses: in which elements of the structure and style of the Chinese national costume are recognizable.

The subdued colours range from cream and ivory to grey and black. There are hints of khaki, military green and even salmon pink. Along with the geometric patterns and shapes of the designs, the colour palette renders the collection pure and minimal. These elements of simplicity and essentially are balanced by the femininity and softness of the magnificent knitwear pieces.

Bold and casual elements are mixed together, creating the perfect aesthetic for the contemporary woman who needs practicality but still wants to feel chic and feminine.
