In a minefield of neon green fluorescent cacti lights, the modelling world’s newest faces wore Baartmans and Siegal’s refreshing and crisp SS16 collection. As the brain child of designer duo Wouter Baartmans and Amber Siegal, the latest collection gives homage to the gritty open plains of North America.
With a base palette of dove grey and touches of navy, rodeo cowboy vibes were clear through patches of scattered camo print; referencing the Appaloosa ponies that are native to North America. Soft wools and formal joggers created functionality, comfort and style, elements crucial to the modern effortless masculine style. Boot cut, ripped, salvage denim jeans in bright white were paired with a button down camo shirt and a lightweight grey wool jacket to produce one of the brands strongest looks. Another noteworthy ensemble came in the form of grey and black panelled cuffed trousers coupled with a simple white tee and leather jacket, giving the collection a street edge. Utility outerwear was introduced through the ‘swamp multi pocket jacket’, keeping the collection sporty yet elegant.
Thoughts of wondering the prairies pop into your mind as the collection stirs up notions of wilderness and exploration. As one of the strongest collections to grace LC:M, Baartmans and Siegal give us wearable luxury for the contemporary man.
