She’s got the most coveted brows in the business, is best friends with Jourdan Dunn and Rihanna, is this month’s cover girl for Vogue and has done numerous high fashion campaigns. Oh, and did I mention today is her 22nd birthday?

So, just how did Cara Delevingne go from a relatively unknown model to one of the most recognised faces in the industry today? As a child and young teen, the world of fashion and modelling wasn’t completely alien to Ms. Delevingne: her first appearance was in an editorial shot for Italian Vogue when she was 10 years old. She also auditioned for a role in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and, after being discovered by Sarah Doukas, was on the books at Storm Model Agency by 2009.

In 2010 she appeared in a film for Kate Moss’s 2010 Topshop collection and made her debut catwalk appearance for Topshop Unique. However, it wasn’t until she walked the Burberry show last September that she really became something of a phenomenon. It was around this time that she featured in that Harlem Shake video proving to the rest of the world that she’s not just a pretty face; she’s got the personality to match the appeal.

Since then she’s had campaigns with Chanel, YSL and DKNY and has spoken out about her plans to pursue a career in music and film. Arguably, her most notable campaigns to date are those shot for Mulberry, in which she encapsulates the brand’s heritage charm and playfulness. Most recently Cara Delevigne was also unveiled as the face of Topshop‘s AW14 campaign… Undoubtedly, she’s a busy girl. Here’s to hoping she’s taken a well deserved break to celebrate her birthday in style.
