Cassie Snelgar, whose globetrotting lifestyle is reflected in her eccentric and elegant designs, began life in the heart of the South African countryside. With her passion and drive Cassie headed stateside to New York to study Womenswear Design at Parsons New School of Design.
After her spell in the land of the free her next destination was the radius skies of New South Wales, Australia to complete her Masters in Fine Art. After successfully completing her Masters she freelanced creating prints for other designers and brands. With determined and energetic gusto Cassie officially launched her own label in the concrete jungle of London in 2012.
The Caslazur label is a great representation of easy chic, featuring friendly wardrobe pieces. Based in London, Cassie focuses on creating eccentric but timelessly elegant staples from her main inspiration of “exotic cultures, folklore and natural phenomena” for the discerning woman about town with a strong focus on quality, finish and architecture.
Cassie’s latest unveiling for Spring/Summer 14 is inspired by the iconic Bondi beach landscape, her african heritage combines with the contemporary cool of Sydney’s prized golden sands. Staple essential pieces of leather boxer shorts and sport influenced sheer shirts fuse with African heartland prints inspired by the surroundings of Cassie’s homeland. Authentic graphics taken from the wilderness of the african countryside with geckos, skulls and organic matter combine to form luxurious detailing. Tough silhouettes are brought together with feminine tones such as the exquisite dusky pinky biker making this collection both feisty and fashion forward.
