The Christopher Shannon collection for AW15 takes inspiration, primarily, from the humble plastic carrier bag. Models walked with plastic bags over their heads, plastic bag designs on their knitwear and garments in red and white or blue and white stripes – bringing some ’Tesco value’ to the looks.

A denim look was particularly striking, but for the most part fabrics consisted of wool melanges, Velcro embellished Jersey and tracksuiting.

Un-zippable sleeves and panels were left open to create bold structures and a menswear version of the cut-out trend. Popper fastenings on tracksuits allowed for a similar ’shredded’ option on some pieces whilst puffer jackets, cinched in at the waist, added to the selection of bulky and interesting silhouettes.

Footwear brand CAT once again collaborated with Christopher Shannon, pairing the looks with neoprene boots. Oversized duffle bags emblazoned with the Christopher Shannon name were the only accessories, with the exception of a large keyring style chain and some plastic bag rosettes. The collection as a whole exuded a feeling of powerful masculinity, coupled with a love for wearing garments in a personalised way. Win.
