Venturing off the rainy Camden High Street into the DRAF art space, the viewer is immersed into a dream like world where art and fashion come together to display Edeline Lee’s autumn/winter collection. Amongst the 60 works from the David Roberts Collection, towering cut outs of models appear to be fading in and out of the space. Pieces of the collection are nestled in between statues of elephants and sculptures of chairs.

Travelling through the different rooms, a model is found with an arrow to signify the reach of your destination. Lee explains that for this collection she was exploring “the semiotics of the arrow. The idea of finding yourself on a map – “You Are Here”.

Emerald, grey, royal blue and orange are blocked together to create clean lines and structured silhouettes. On closer inspection arrow panels are found among the striped pieces and coats are constructed to be reversible with artistic white paint printed on the inside – all adding to the intimate feel of installation.

Wool gabardine, neoprene mesh and textured “bubble” fabric are draped to create loose detailed sleeves and cut out panels, which is sourced from premium Italian and French mills. Tall tailored hats accessorise the collection throwing attention on the proportions created by culottes and voluminous jackets.

Considered thought is put into every aspect of the collection, from the detailed seams to the artist inspired “Man Ray” dress. From the mise-en-scene, thought is what inspires the viewer, questioning your journey by following arrows and how art inspires the fashion culture. Edeline Lee AW15 is a dazzlingly sophisticated collection, refined pieces with subtle yet impressive skill.
