The Hentsch Man SS15 presentation whisked us away from the metropolitan city of London and transported us to a sunny yard in Cuba. Chicos chilled on plastic garden furniture surrounded by palm plants and boxing gloves. They smoked cigars and drank beers (also available to guests as well as the fashion event standard: coconut water).
This season the Hentsch man is street rat, a tough guy, rough around the edges but with undeniable charm. He wears his shirt sleeves rolled and the top buttons open; he wears exotic prints with confidence. He’s a smooth talker, dressed sharp in an effortless way. Bold vertical stripes in muted tones cover jackets, chinos and shirts. The fit is always loose, never restrictive, perfect for a day hanging with amigos but easily smartened for the bar. After all, he doesn’t like to make plans.
It’s a collection that translates with ease to fit the trendy haunts of Shoreditch – a burger bar meal and a live music night in a beer garden. Although generally tame, the colour palette pops with the occasional vibrant yellow, coral and a candied green. It’s authentic, wearable and very much my bag.
