Fashion Scout is not only home to some of the best emerging talent in London, but it also plays host to some rather amazing international designers as well. House of Middle East and Asia is an initiative set up by the FAD international academy, India’s leading and Dubai’s emerging Fashion school. House of MEA is the only platform to promote and incubate emerging and established talent from across the Middle East and Asia.
For AW16 Felix Bendish and Rocky Star were the designers on show. Bendish was first up with his eponymous label that launched back in 2001. Statement accessories were key to his collection, models walked down the catwalk wafting side to side, adorned in big handcrafted necklaces, earrings and headpieces. In a colour palette of wintry Hampton dark black, greys and deep blues, it was a collection of humor and reflection that translated into a thing of effortless beauty.
Next up was Rocky Star, a designer who since setting up his label in 1995 has made a name for himself in Bollywood, acclaimed for his costume designing in both film and personal projects. This season fabric manipulation, embroideries and textile manipulation techniques were presented, mixed with an explosion of colour in the form of rich reds, deep purples, gold, green and black sleek tailoring and exuberant shapes. There was a distinct bohemian feel to the collection with modern geometric cuts inspired by the techniques of folding and pleating.
