Yesterday STYLE LDN attended the opening of The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Barbican. As well as delicious Breton striped eclairs especially created by bakery Paul, we were treated to a live interview with the world famous designer, conducted by Thierry-Maxime Loriot. Charming, funny and vivacious, Gaultier enchanted the audience with stories that explained his creative process and personal journey.
His love for people and appreciation for unconventional beauty came across in the passionate way in which he spoke about these subjects. At 61 years old, Gaultier has had an incredibly diverse and exciting career so far, and he adds another fabulous chapter to that book with this extraordinary exhibition.
Listening to Gaultier speak so animatedly about his work and, in particular, his inspirations was (in turn) inspirational. Thankfully, the Barbican has created this video of the interview capturing some of the highlights.
