And so another fearless collection by Issey Miyake, who finds that this season his trademark high-neck jumper (worn famously by Steve Jobs) is trending like a trooper on AW13 catwalks across the globe. (Technically Yoshiyuki Miyamae is the designer now but humour me for the sake of the concept.)
Colour blocking, vertical stripes, furry cuffs, over-sized checks… it’s a typically bold and in-your-face display. Billowing skirts and fantastic checked coats in hot pink, purple and red with statement lapels hit the runway, as well as more typically japanese inspired hem shapes.
Unusually though, it’s British heritage-wear that seems to have inspired the majority of the collection this season: As well as checks and country-cut outerwear, the smiling models walked to Celtic tunes. It’s a visual feast full of stand-out pieces, what else is there to say?
