The Jasper Conran SS15 collection would find itself rather at home in a contemporary art gallery. Garments are presented as blank canvases to be splashed with colour, painted with patterns or colour blocked to create eye-catching yet, nevertheless, clean works.
Silhouettes are minimalist and loose throughout, with a luxe sportswear influence whispering in the background. Necklines are predominantly high and rounded, shirt collars are buttoned up to the top; the exception to this observation being the sexy off-the-shoulder pieces that give a little ‘mm-hmm’ to an otherwise demure collection. Gorgeous light-weight silks, cotton poplin and jersey allow for fluid movement that captures the essence of summer dressing. Relaxed sophistication is felt across this SS15 offering, aided by the muted colour pallet of earth tones, white, and an occasional cobalt blue to break it all up.
Stand-out pieces are many and include, an oversized shirt dress in green and brown splash print, a bandeau colour-blocked strapless dress with sports inspired hem, and any one of the abstract camo print combos. A truly delightful, original and covetable collection – a firm favourite of mine by Jasper Conran.
