London fashion brand Kenema has been invited to show pieces from their collection at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC later this month. The pieces, which feature African inspired and sourced prints, will be part of the museum’s African Art’s Earth Matters fashion show and 50th anniversary celebrations. The event aims to showcases the influence of African resources and culture on the modern fashion world.

Kenema’s founder, Tamu Thomas, launched the brand after being inspired by a dress she received from Sierra Leone and she now works with artisans and entrepreneurs across the continent to produce her eco-friendly line. As part of her trip to the US, Tamu will be appearing on Fox5’s breakfast show to discuss her work.
