Bringing style across the decades, CMMN SWDN’s AW16 collection encapsulated 70s and early 80s Scandinavia nirvana. Entitled ‘Domus’, the inspiration for the collection was the interiors of childhood homes; leather couches, heavy drapery and velvet accents. Domestic textiles with muted colour tones of rust, camel and burnt orange gave a homely feel. Founded by Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund in 2012, the dynamic duo did not disappoint in producing a collection that exceeded the high expectations from last season. Models stood as part of the surrounding wooden installation, further symbolising Bakir’s thought that clothing is an extension of your home.

A blanket fabric duffel jacket is paired with a black turtleneck and slim fit tailored trousers while the same earthy toned blanket fabric took the shape of a long line scarf. With a contrasting silhouette of boxy cropped jackets and high waist slim trousers, ‘Domus’ put a spin on the geeky retro vibe with mixed suede and leather. Classic leather jackets in wooden brown and black were layered with eclectic 70s inspired pieces and gave the range an edge. With a hint of geek chic and laid back 70s luxe, CMMN SWDN’s collection stood out from the pack.
