LULU LIU. SS16.

Drawing inspiration from the world of dance, this latest collection by Lulu Liu is the epitome of delicate romanticism. Woven fabrics are used in abundance  and with each piece constructed by hand, it has a very high-end, couture feel to it.

The collection draws inspiration from the confluence of Eastern and Western cultures in the form of Flamenco dancing. The Chinese mentality of tenderness comes head-to-head with the European passion of the West to create clothes that are both modest and exhilarating. Dainty textures are emblazoned with metallic fringing, creating classy and highly wearable looks.

Highly considered details such as draped cloth and fringing create a refined look, with femininity celebrated through the use of figure-hugging silhouettes. These details are said to represent ‘the fluidity and discipline of the dance, and the embodiment of this season’s Lulu Liu woman’.

The colour palette is stripped down to elegant black and delicate pastels, which are woven together beautifully to give a really dynamic collection. The models are made up fairly lightly, and hair is kept loose and natural so as not to distract from the clothes themselves. A single glass droplet earring hangs from the ears of each model, adding the perfect finishing touch to  a truly beautiful collection.
