Delectable printed silks dominate the NIAN collection, bringing bomber jackets, blazers, shorts, blouses, dresses and trousers to life with movement and colour. Sporty and casual, brimming with urban swagger, yet classy across both the womens’ and menswear looks.
Blues, aquas and greens in varying hues are prominent in the colour pallet. The barbed wire print, that features consistently throughout the collection, is in symbolic contrast to the feathered wings print… the natural world vs the urban, the freedom of flight vs man made prisons. Similarly, the Androgynous silhouettes (highlighted by the female models’ hair and make-up) contrast with the typically more feminine element of free flowing fabrics.
Despite these various opposites coming together, the collection feels very complete, whilst at the same time showing variation and uniqueness with each look. The styling, by Nesley Nazari, is impeccable and, on the whole, the NIAN collection is absolutely one of my favourites for SS14.
