For her SS16 Sabinna took inspiration from the theme ‘home,’ or lack there of. The collection is created around the story of a girl moving from place to place without having familiarity. This is displayed in the combinations of light yarns with stiff organza and bulky crocheted flowers. By combining these materials the designer explains this is the girl collecting treasures from her travels.
The stiff loose fitting silhouettes are a canvas for texture and pattern. Bright red polka dot fabric is paired with light translucent organza. Fine pencil skirts, white delicate shirts and crisp striped A-line coats show a relaxed traveller. The crocheted flowers and 3-D printed replicas add a playful whimsy to the collection which are crafted into tops and bucket bags. With pale blues and bright reds layered onto white it creates a romantic European nature.
For this collection the designer has purposefully created clean fronts for the garments with an explosion of pleats and colour happening on the back. This SS16 collection is carefree and adventurous yet gives a very personal insight to the inspiration from Sabinna.
