On the 22nd May at Asylum London, fashion’s freshest talent was unveiled in the first of a series of STRIKE events. The inspirational showcases have been put together by somewhereto_ and Project Platform to highlight the emerging works of 16 – 25 year olds across London. Supported by the Big Lottery Fund, somewhereto_ provides a free service that helps young people to access free space in which to present their work.
On this occasion, collections by Josh Fox, Shireeka Devlin, Mashaal Jolly aka Ma-Ko, Oleata Stewart aka O.LTR London, Kingsley Zah, Naemi Miyazu and Francesca Capper were on show. Each brought something different and unique to the catwalk: Sleek tailored cuts and clean lines from O.LTR London, vibrant abstract prints from Sjireeka Devlin, angsty urban-wear from Josh Fox… a real variety show.
There is no doubt that the skill, dedication and raw talent displayed here highlighted the importance of nurturing and supporting young people in this competitive industry. I can’t wait to see what other promising talent STRIKE has to offer at their next event.
