The first UK showcase for Panamanian-born Teresita Orillac was welcomed with high praise. Backstage, the young designer explains how her printed fabrics were ‘influenced by a helicopter ride over the jungle and taking pictures of birds’. The texture and colour of the exotic bird feathers was translated into the beautiful fabrics that ran through her collection.
Peacock purples and blues were shaped into a girly shift dress with black side panelling and paired with classic black trainers – the ideal item of choice for day to night comfortable ensemble. Transitioning into evening dresses, the paradise themed patterns continue. An emerald green feather dress is broken up with a black belt to give some shape.
Although the collection felt quite repetitive and some of the designs were outdated, there is a high wearable factor and the base patterns were beautiful.
