Pop up boutique ‘The Catwalk Edit’ kicked off London fashion week in great style on Thursday. Transforming the Chelsea old town hall on the Kings road into somewhat of an Aladdin’s cave. 60 brands were exhibited across two large rooms throughout the day, with eight catwalk shows running one after the other all afternoon, featuring ready-to-wear, accessories and lingerie.
With so much going on it was hard to focus all your attention on just one brand, however there were a few that caught the eye in amongst a sea of so many. Lavinia Cadar presented her graduate collection during the young designer’s catwalk show. The Laser cutting, digital printing and shiny metallics all fused together in a colour palette of bold blue and vibrant reds making it a perfect collection for an otherwise grey day.
For fun prints and super comfy casual wear, look no further than Brat and Suzie with their safari motif tees and shorts, slogan jumpers and stylish clear macs. Liquorish offered up some simple yet gorgeous dresses and jumpsuits, perfect for when those summer days finally arrive.
Karl Bowman is a name that needs to be noted down right away, he didn’t present his collection on the catwalk but he still caught my eye as I wondered around the hall in between shows. I mean, how you could not stop by his stand? with his stunning ‘Chanel’ like tweed jackets and dresses all made right here in England it’s the epitome of sophistication. Valentine’s day may well have come and gone in a blink of an eye but that’s no reason to not drop hints for next year. Failing that, you could treat yourself to some luxury lingerie and La Figurelle – the perfect brand for this. Long silk night gowns, suspenders and high waisted fifties style knickers gave a feel of old school Hollywood glamour.
