This year saw a big shift away from corporate dressing, with emphasis placed on looser and comfortable items. Jogging-bottom style trousers were worn with heels and a simple top for days at the office, and the so often hated elasticated waist band crept back into our wardrobes as an acceptable silhouette.
This causal and sportswear lead trend doesn’t show any signs of slowing down for SS15, with brands embracing the comfort factor in their masses. For Twist and Tango, a brand whose key values are fun, simple, personal and feminine, this trend couldn’t come at a better time. Its SS15 collection features pieces that fit perfectly into the category, and the brand has upped its sportswear credentials by featuring international high jump athlete Emma Green as its current ambassador.
It’s a collection dominated by loose silhouettes and minimal detailing. The overall feeling is very soft with masculine influences gently added; feminine tops are given a street-wear edge by layering over a crop top, and minimal stripe detailing accentuates the sporty influences.
Existing fans of Twist and Tango won’t be disappointed, and it’s likely that SS15 will see even more of us working urban pieces from the collection into our wardrobe.
