The sense of sophisticated elegance that is synonymous with the designs of Turkish designer Zeynep Kartal were on display for her Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Inspired by the process of women establishing themselves in modern sociey, Kartal references the formal attire of Hollywood legends and the modern day elite. The colour scheme gradually grew darker (from neutrals to coral red and navy’s) as the models filed out on the catwalk.
Organza was covered in delicate red lace with sequin appliqué, fixed at the waist under a plunging neckline with a matching red belt to enhance the natural female shape. The same design was created in an off-white colour, giving a bridal effect. The evening gowns were elegant and glamorous, however the short tailored blazer-dress in a navy blue gave a feminine touch to a traditionally boxy design that was refreshing to see on the runway.
Using transparent crepe, organza and silk teamed with the regal colour palette, the collection had a romantic aura. Resulting in a range of designs that we will be sure to see on the red carpet next season, Kartal’s über feminine creations are perfect for leading ladies.
